Offloading Foot Care Devices
About this Program
Did you know that diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are one of the leading causes of amputation? Diabetes-related complications, such as neuropathy and poor circulation, make individuals more prone to developing foot ulcers. If left untreated, these ulcers can become infected, leading to severe consequences, including hospitalization and limb loss.
Offloading devices are medical products designed to relieve pressure on the foot, reduce repetitive trauma, and protect wound sites to promote healing.
At SCHC, we are committed to helping individuals with diabetes access the right solutions. FREE FUNDING is available for eligible diabetic patients, ensuring they receive the care they need.
Don’t wait—protect your feet, protect your future!
Common Offloading Solutions Include:
- Total Contact Casts – The gold standard for DFU healing, fully immobilizing and relieving pressure.
- Removable & Irremovable Cast Walkers – Support mobility while reducing pressure on the ulcer.
- Healing Shoes & Half Shoes – Reduce pressure on specific areas while maintaining foot support.
- Felted Foams – Provide targeted cushioning for high-pressure points.
- Orthopaedic Footwear & Custom-Made Orthotics – Designed for long-term ulcer prevention and foot protection.
These devices help ensure that small wounds don’t become major health concerns. By redistributing weight and reducing skin stress, they provide therapeutic success in managing and preventing DFUs.
Why is Offloading Important?
- Diabetes patients are 12x more likely to be hospitalized for an amputation—early intervention makes a difference.
- 90% of diabetic foot ulcers are caused by pressure—which means proper offloading is key to healing and prevention.
- By using the right offloading solution, you can stay mobile, stay independent, and stay on your feet.
